I'm not the type to set new year's resolutions because, as most studies have proven, none of them ever keep. HOWEVER, now that I'm over the "hump" of last year, which was...let's be honest...not great, I would like to start this year with a fresh outlook on life, making good choices, and a hopeful heart for what's to come!
As these are my broad goals for this year, I'm kicking January off by focusing on my health (physical, mental, and emotional). Physically, I'm not where I want to be. My weight has suffered over the past couple years due to stress, emotions, and hormones, and I'm ready to whip it back into shape. I've also got some random issues with my thyroid and allergies that I didn't have 2 years ago. After listening to my story, my wellness doctor recommended the Whole 30 to me. If nothing else it would be a good experiment, and would help me start fresh and hit the proverbial "reset" button on my body. SO...over the past month I've done a ton of research, cleaned out my pantry and fridge, and started planning to set myself up for success.
And...Monday is the day! 6 weeks...I can totally do this! I already have the first week of meals planned, and most of them are going to be prepped for me ahead of time, so no biggie! I'm excited for so many reasons, and I just couldn't keep it to myself, so I thought I would list them for my non-existent audience here ;-)
1. This will give me time to focus on my physical health by choosing to eat healthy, and giving my body the detox it needs after a rough couple of years.
2. I also plan to focus my energies on exercise, but I don't want to over-reach, so I've decided to try to do my yoga 4-6 times a week to help with some of the cravings, and to train my body to have healthy distracting.
3. I LOVE cooking...and I haven't done near enough of it over the past year! I've started the last couple weeks by getting back in the habit of cooking, instead of just doing snack food for dinner or ordering out all the time. I think this is another opportunity for me to rejuvenate my love for creating dishes that are fun, flavorful, and healthy!
4. I'm taking this time to turn the damn TV off and read more! Guys, I bought SO many books with my Christmas money and I found a new book reading app that's FABULOUS! I just can't even help myself...so, I'm making it a point to use that app as many days as I can. I think this will be great to keep me calm, cool, and collected emotionally...which will also ward off cravings ;-)
So, there you have it! Those are my aspirations to kick this year off the right way! I wanted to share this publicly because this journey is important to me. I'm excited to see what results come from this experiment, and how starting my year off the right way is going to help spring-board me to success!!
